The Mongrel - A guzzi with some history comes back to life

The story goes like this:

The original owner of the Guzzi, supposedly a Lemans 1, crashed it on the first day of ownership. He bought a new frame and upgraded some bits on the way. Martin Shields of the now defunct Forcycle did some performance work to the donk. It was ridden hard and abused. The mongrel was still running but the present owner wanted it brought back to life.

I didnt take good before shots ...

Assembly started
Off the stand, fitting up cosmetics prior to paint

Headlight, controls & instruments fitted
Wiring in process

Tank fitted, wiring done, fueled up first test run!
Music just happened to be what was in the radio at the time eerie!

A lot of work in between, too much detail to remember now but the finished bike.

The original early Staintune stainless exhaust system had some 'history' which remains. It was cleaned up, and ceramic coated

Original seat remains for better or worse like a thinly upholstered besser brick.

The 2 best colours for a motorcycle are black, and black!
